Reviews

The feedback we work to earn

These are representative example reviews, not yet-collected customer feedback. They are written to illustrate the kind of feedback Alectrona aims to earn and are shown as design placeholders while we gather and verify reviews from our first commercial clients. Alectrona is the commercial solar trading brand of RVTC LTD.

What set Alectrona apart was the documented design pack. We had quotes from three installers, but only Alectrona handed us a full set of drawings, a single-line diagram and a design referencing BS 7671 and the G99 connection process. The whole thing read like an engineering submission rather than a sales brochure. Our M&E consultant reviewed it and signed it off without a single query. That gave the board the confidence to release the capital.

Estates Manager, academy trust (Yorkshire)

Other firms priced our roof off a satellite image and a desktop guess. Alectrona flew an in-house drone survey, fully insured and flown by a qualified commercial drone pilot, and built a 3D model of the actual roof. It picked up plant, vents and a parapet line that a flat aerial photo had completely missed, which changed the panel layout. I would rather find that out at design stage than on the day the scaffold goes up. The accuracy of that survey is the reason I trusted everything that followed.

Facilities Manager, distribution centre (East Midlands)

As a finance director I was wary of being oversold a system bigger than we could use. Alectrona modelled the array against our actual half-hourly consumption data rather than an annual total, so it is sized to what we genuinely draw on site during the day. They were honest that exporting surplus is worth far less than self-consumption, and built the design around that. The capital case stacked up because the engineering was honest, not because the numbers were inflated.

Finance Director, logistics group (North West)

We were undecided between buying outright, leasing and a PPA. Alectrona laid out all three side by side with the pros and cons of each against our balance sheet, instead of pushing the one that pays them best. They were clear about where a PPA makes sense and where capex wins, and pointed us at our own accountant for the tax treatment. The survey and design took a little longer than I expected, but the thoroughness was worth the wait. Genuinely consultative.

Property Director, retail park (West Midlands)

The install crew were tidy and well run, and worked to a clear CDM 2015 plan with a proper site induction and RAMS. What impressed me most was the handover. We received a full commissioning pack with the IEC 62446-1 test results, certification, O&M documentation and an as-built record for our maintenance team. As the people who have to live with this asset for the next twenty years, having that paperwork in order matters enormously. Nothing was left loose.

Operations Director, food manufacturer (Lincolnshire)

I expected the usual hard sell and got the opposite. After surveying our site Alectrona told us one roof section was not worth covering because of shading, and that a smaller, well-sited array was the better investment than filling every square metre. There was no commission-driven upselling and no pressure. For a six-figure capital project, that straight talk is exactly what you want from the people advising you. We will be using them again on our second site.

Managing Director, engineering firm (Sheffield)

Fox ESS is a Chinese inverter manufacturer that has become one of the most widely installed value and mid-market brands in the UK. For Alectrona it earns its place on availability and value: a proven three-phase string platform, strong distributor stock, and named warranties you can register. We specify the inverter that fits the design and the budget, and on a commercial roof that is often the R Series.

This is an honest, survey-led page. There is no published price here and no fabricated bankability. Fox ESS does not lead an independent inverter bankability survey, so we make no Tier 1 claim for it. The figure for your project comes from the PV*SOL model and the site survey, never a list price.

Why we specify Fox ESS

We reach for Fox ESS when a project needs a dependable three-phase string inverter at a sensible capital cost, with parts and replacement units that UK distributors hold in stock and ship quickly. That combination of price position and availability matters on commercial work, where lead times and spares logistics can decide a programme.

It is a value and mid-market specification, and we are clear about that. Where a site genuinely needs module-level electronics for shading, or a longer independently surveyed financeability record, we will say so and put a different brand forward. The point is fit, not a badge.

The commercial range

The commercial range we use is led by the R Series grid-tied three-phase inverters: R75, R100 and R110 at 75, 100 and 110 kW, each up to 98.6% maximum efficiency with a 1100 V maximum DC input. The R75 and R100 carry nine MPP trackers and the R110 carries ten, which gives real flexibility for splitting a large roof across multiple string orientations, and these units are typically build-to-order at the larger ratings.

The 1100 V maximum DC input lets us run longer strings and fewer parallel runs, which trims cable, fuse and combiner count on a large roof. The nine MPP trackers on the R75 and R100, and ten on the R110, mean each pitch, orientation and shaded zone can run on its own maximum-power-point input, so a split north-south or stepped-roof layout is not penalised by a single mismatched string. We confirm the model, firmware revision and export-limitation settings against your DNO agreement and the PV*SOL yield model before specification.

Below that, the T Series (G3) covers three-phase dual-tracker duties from roughly 3 to 25 kW (up to the FE-T-25.0), again up to 98.6% efficiency, useful for smaller arrays, sub-array splits and outbuildings within a wider scheme. The T Series carries a named warranty that is registerable up to ten years; we confirm the exact warranty term for the model on each project.

Monitoring, connection and support

Every Fox ESS inverter we install is commissioned to G99 and the DNO connection process and configured to the DNO connection agreement, including any export limitation the site is granted, and is monitored through the Fox cloud platform so generation and string-level performance are visible from day one. We commission, document and hand over the monitoring rather than leaving it to chance.

Beyond commissioning, our value is in the O&M relationship: real-time alerting, fault triage, and the spares and replacement logistics that Fox ESS distribution in the UK makes straightforward. Strong parts availability is one of the practical reasons we are comfortable specifying the brand on commercial sites.

Alectrona is an independent commercial solar contractor and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or an agent of Fox ESS Co., Ltd. We name the brand and its products under nominative fair use, to describe equipment we specify and install.

FAQ

Fox ESS commercial inverters: common questions

For many commercial roofs, yes. Fox ESS is an established value and mid-market brand with strong UK distribution, and the R Series gives a proven three-phase platform at 75 to 110 kW with up to 98.6% efficiency and nine MPP trackers on the R75 and R100, ten on the R110. We specify it where availability and capital cost matter, and we put a different brand forward where the site genuinely needs module-level electronics or a longer independently surveyed financeability record.

We make no Tier 1 claim for Fox ESS. The phrase Tier 1 belongs to a BloombergNEF PV-module financeability scheme and does not apply to inverters. There is a separate inverter bankability survey, and Fox ESS does not lead it, so it would be dishonest to imply it is the most bankable. We position it accurately as a widely available value brand and confirm warranty and support terms per project.

Warranties are named and registerable. The T Series carries a standard term that is registerable up to ten years, and the R Series commercial inverters carry their own term. Warranty terms vary by model and revision, so we confirm the exact term for your model at the point of specification, then register and document it as part of commissioning so it is active from handover.

We do not publish inverter prices. Commercial solar is survey-led: the figure for your scheme comes from the PV*SOL model and the site survey, with the inverter sized to the array, the roof and your DNO connection. We will give you a single, honest project figure rather than a from-price for a box.
